So, I have never shared a recipe on the site, but I was inspired to do so because every time I search for a recipe online, you have to dig and dig for the actual recipe. So, I will be sharing recipes, and you don’t have to search and dig! I’ll be getting right to the point.
- Total prep time: 80-85 minutes
- Prep time: 20 minutes
- Bake Time: 60-65 minutes
- Serves: 8
- Ingredients:
- 6 to 7 cups thinly sliced peeled tart apples
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Dough (double-crust pie)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 large egg white
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Extra sugar for sprinkling over pie
- Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll one half of the dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Roll remaining dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle and set to the side. Trim even with rim.
- In a small bowl, combine sugars, flour, and spices;
- In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add sugar mixture and make sure it coats all the apples.
- Add filling to the pie pan; dot with butter. Place prepped dough over the pie filling.
- Trim, seal, and flute edge and then cut slits in top.
- Beat egg white until foamy; brush over crust. Sprinkle with sugar. Cover edge loosely with foil.
- Bake 35 minutes.
- Remove foil and then bake until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly, 25-30 minutes longer.
- Cool on a wire rack for at least two hours before cutting.
